Seventeen Years Old

Author/Director Didier Nion
Producer Mille et Une films
Country France
Length 83’
Year 2003

Jean-Benoît is seventeen years old and lives with his mother. When he was twelve, his father committed suicide. As a vulnerable adolescent, threatened by the temptations of self-destruction and irresolute half measures, he is permanently on the razor’s edge.
Filmed over three years, the film is part of the process of, and becomes in its own right, a place of learning and reflection. By confronting Jean-Benoît with his own image, it becomes a relay and gives him the means to act.
