Made from selected 1st World War footage, the film presents the war diaries of two camera operators - one is French, the other German - filming the war on each side of the battle front.
It recounts the adventure of the pioneers who invented the Newsfilm… and discovered the questions it raises.
Many technical and ethical questions on filming the war are asked here for the very first time. Their echo can still be heard in contemporary wars.
